Kylee is a long time camper with CRA! Kylee has several hobbies including painting, surfing, spending time at the beach, going to the waterpark, participating in over 100 races, and visiting all 47 South Carolina state parks! Kylee loves peeps, sour patch kids, and root beer.
Kylee was born with a genesis of the corpus callosum. This means she is missing the nerve fibers that connects the right side if her brain to the left side. She spent the first three tears of her life in therapy to help her meet her developmental milestones and be ready to start school with her peers. Kylee has been diagnosed with many other things over the years. This includes asthma and a congenital heart defect. At ten years old, she started having severe headaches, dizziness, and neck pain. It was discovered that she has several fused vertebrae in her spine. An MRI to check the extent of the fusions discovered that Kylee had severe hydrocephalus and chiari malformation. She was scheduled for brain surgery a few weeks later.
Kylee got a glimpse of CRA when she tagged along to drop of the little brother of a friend. The next summer she nervously agreed to give it a try. She has been looking forward to camp ever since. She experienced things she may have never tried such as the rock wall and archery. CRA meant she could have fun with her peers and forget about all the medical stuff for a little while. John and I were glad it was a place where we knew she could safely have so much fun. The counselors and medical volunteers have always been the greatest. Kylee loved her first summer of week long camp at Camp Cole. She got a glimpse at what being a counselor is all about. She is looking forward to being a counselor in training next summer
