So you want to be a summer counselor? We don’t blame you – our volunteer counselors have a blast with our campers every summer! Below are some answers to common questions from first-time volunteers, but you can always email erinu@campriseabove.org or call 843.300.9100 with any questions you have. We hope to see you this summer!
Our 2021 camp sessions are listed below:
June 14-15: Day camp at James Island County Park
June 17-18: Day camp at James Island County Park
July 11-16: Overnight camp at Camp Cole
July 18-23: Overnight camp at Camp Cole
Of course! We have counselors that volunteer at one session, two sessions, and some that volunteer at all of them. We welcome any time that you can give to these great children. We do request that counselors commit to ALL days of each session they volunteer for so they can be paired with the same child for the entire session.
We do! We need volunteers to run arts and crafts, lunch, and other needs. If you are interested in learning more about these jobs, email Erin at the address above.
Volunteers complete the Counselor Application and background check ($18.50 to cover the cost of a background check. This fee is waived for current students). After your application is received, first time volunteers will undergo a phone interview and give two references. All volunteers who are approved will be required to complete Darkness to Light training and attend an orientation and training session before camp to go over safety, medical, and camper information.
We require our counselors to be 18 years old and up.
We always have special events that use volunteers! Whether it’s a fundraising event or a hospital camp, we would love to hear from you if you are interested in volunteering with us. Please contact us for more information!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
